How to Play Chompers the Dino
Chompers the Dino is an endless runner you play right in your browser — no download, no install. You control a cute T-rex sprinting through a scrolling prehistoric world, and your only job is to survive as long as possible while collecting points. The game uses a three-lane track: your dinosaur can run in the left, center, or right lane, and obstacles appear in those lanes as they rush toward you. React fast, switch lanes, and leap over hazards to keep Chompers alive across all ten levels.
Controls
On a keyboard, press the Left and Right arrow keys (or A and D) to switch lanes, and press the Up arrow, W, or the Spacebar to jump. On a phone or tablet, tap the left half of the screen to move left, tap the right half to move right, and press the on-screen Jump button to leap. You can jump again the moment you land, so chain your leaps freely — the only limit is where you are in the air.
Obstacles & Pickups
Watch for four obstacle types: boulders, bushes, logs, and trees. You can jump over boulders, bushes, and logs, but trees are too tall to clear — you must switch lanes to avoid them. From level five onward, glowing lava pools appear; stepping in lava costs you points but won't end your run, so you can hop over them. Grab the juicy steaks scattered along the track for bonus points, and keep an eye out for a rare green Triceratops — chomping one grants an extra life.
Characters & Difficulty
Choose from four playable dinosaurs — Chompers, Toothy, Gummy, and Gloppy — each with its own color and personality. Before you start, pick a difficulty: Easy gives you four lives and a gentler pace, Normal offers three lives and balanced spawns, and Hard is a fast, unforgiving sprint with only two lives. Each level lasts longer than the last and speeds up as you progress, so the challenge steadily rises.
Scoring & Leaderboard
You earn points passively for distance covered, plus ten points for every steak you collect and fifteen for each Triceratops. Your best score is saved automatically and displayed on the global leaderboard, where you can see how you rank against other runners. Pick a memorable runner name (up to twelve characters) before you start so your score shows up next to your character's color on the board.
Tips for a High Score
Stay near the center lane when you can — it gives you the most escape options. Save your leaps for boulders and lava you truly can't dodge by switching lanes, and remember that trees are too tall to jump: if you're airborne when one arrives you'll still take the hit. Watch the horizon so you spot tree rows early and plan your lane changes. And remember, the sky darkens and a volcano awakens the farther you run, so the late levels are as much about nerve as about speed.
